I studied silversmithing in the seaside town of Port Elizabeth straight out of school. It came naturally, and I headed into my period of apprenticeship with some of the best local goldsmiths. Over the course of the following 8 years (2 spent in the UK), I acquired the skills of goldsmithing from a range of goldsmiths. I work in a variety of metals, but my latest collections are designed for easy everyday wear, and these are in brass and silver. I have regular commissions for engagement rings. These are generally gold, be it yellow, pink or white. I am a skilled wax carver, and have had rings cast in silver, and pink gold. I work with diamonds and precious stones, but I do love the variety and enchantment of the stones classed as semi-precious as well. I have previously worked with recycled materials such as plastic bottles and continue to play in this area.
